Amy Marie Ruby

October 2, 1978 — March 27, 2022

Amy Marie Ruby, born in Huntsville, Alabama on October 2, 1978, left her earthly home in Chattanooga, Tennessee on March 27, 2022. She started walking toward her heavenly home then flew with angels to be with loved ones gone before.

Amy became a Christian at the young age of 11 and showed her obedience to God, being baptized at Calvary Baptist Church in Scottsboro, Alabama.

Amy is survived by her SONSHINE, Stink Stink Carebear son, Noah Gray Payne (Kylee Wilson) and Noah’s father, Matthew Payne; adoring mother and stepfather, Gayle Cooley Rutledge (Walter); loving sister, Kellie Lynn Hodnett (Jody); very special second parents, Aunt Pat Blankenship (Bruce); uncles, Kenneth Cooley (Gloria) and Chris Maynor; in-laws, Roy and Dorothy Payne; nephews Jacob, Justin, and Jayden; niece Savannah; great-niece Theadora Benton; great-nephew Ellis Benton. Amy also had many cousins, aunts and uncles, friends, and relatives whom she loved in her very special way.

Amy was preceded in death by her father, David Ruby; maternal grandparents, David Wilburn Cooley and Mary Talley Cooley Maynor; paternal grandparents, Ernest and Hilda Ruby; and very special cousin and best friend, Chad Blankenship.

Amy was a gentle soul and loved deeply for family, friends, and even strangers as can be seen in her career choices.

Amy attended elementary school in Scottsboro, Alabama and continued Jr. High and High School in Trenton, Georgia. She continued her education at Georgia State and Chattanooga State, earning an associate degree in Health Management while pursuing a career in nursing. Her passion was for the less fortunate, working with addicts and alcoholics on their road to becoming recovering addicts.

However, the one thing she loved more than life and her reason for living was her son, Noah. She could not wait for grandbabies to come along!

Amy loved Auburn football, making for a house divided. Coming from a diehard Alabama family, she made the choice to bleed blue and orange with Aunt Pat and Cousin Chad. The Iron Bowl was an exciting, competitive event in her home. Amy would want to be remembered for making a difference in her 43 years. In other words ... LIVE - LAUGH - LOVE.
