Rev. Arville Hurst

July 27, 1932 - April 23, 2022

In the early morning of Saturday, April 23, 2022, Reverend Arville Franklin Hurst left his earthly home in Trenton, GA and went home to be with his heavenly father, after battling dementia for three years. He was 89 years of age, born on July 27, 1932 to the late Lloyd and Myrtle (Holland) Hurst. Rev. Hurst faithfully served his country in the United States Air Force as an Airman Second Class. He was a well known minister who evangelized and pastored in the Church of God for more than 60 years. He pastored churches in Tennessee, Georgia, Kentucky, Ohio, North Carolina and Florida. Arville and his twin brother, Marville “Barney” Hurst, would often hold revivals together throughout the area. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James and Barney (Jean) Hurst; sister, Adele (Bill) Nelson; son, James “Jack” Hurst; and son-in-law, Robert Harbaugh. Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 65 years, Peggy Wilson Hurst; daughters, Marcia Harbaugh and Andrea (Clarence) Wright; daughter-in-law, Joyce (Dan) Huddleston; grandchildren, Julia Harbaugh, Jennifer (Chad) Comstock, Jameson (Lesley) Hurst, Candace Harbaugh, Alecia Pollard, Robert (Taylor) Harbaugh, Krystal Harbaugh, Ashley Ford; 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of his past congregations. Rev. Hurst spent his life working for God and helping people. He loved his family and his church family. He enjoyed playing golf, spending time with his twin brother and his preacher brethren. Many stories are told of the shenanigans of the Hurst twins. Rev. Hurst also enjoyed the time spent with his twin brother Barney and fellow preacher brethren on their annual trout fishing trips to Montana. Many tales are told from these fishing trips, including the big ones that got away kept getting bigger. Everyone is invited to attend a Celebration of Life and Homegoing for Rev. Arville Hurst at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at Moore Funeral Home in Trenton, GA with Bishop Clayton Privett officiating. He will be laid to rest at Shantytown Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm and Tuesday from 11:00 until the funeral hour. The funeral will be livestreamed at www.discoverdade.com/moorestream.
