Roy M. Stephens 85, of Trenton, Georgia passed away on April 27, 2021 at his home. He was born on January 8, 1936 in Dade County, Georgia. His parents were the late James Thomas & Lettie Daniel Stephens, who preceded him in death.
Roy worked as a machinist, route salesmen for Holsom Bakery, and self-employed business owner for many years. He served on the board of directors of the Dade County Department of Family and Children Services and the Dade County Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Hooker Church of Christ.
Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Gertha L. Stephens; mother and father-in-law A.M. and Valeria (Thrasher) Keel; brothers-in-law Bernard W. Keith, Carl E. Cross, Andy B. Newby, Jr.; nephew Cal Riddle.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Shirley K. Stephens, Trenton, GA; son Milton (Julie) Stephens, Lynnville, TN; grandson Thomas (Melissa) Stephens, Lynnville, TN; sisters Bertha Cross, Betty Keith & Kathleen Newby all of Trenton, GA; sister-in-law Jean (Doug) Wheeler; brother-in-law Kenny (Linda) Keel of Trenton, GA; wife’s son Phillip (Myra) Keel; grandsons Shane (Anna) Keel, Ringgold, GA, Cody & Tyler Keel; granddaughter Kristen Wells, great-grandchildren; nephews Winfred (Anita) Keith, Mike (Darlene) Keith, Mark Cross; nieces Connie Cross, April Riddle, Serena Keel, Fallon Keel; also several cousins, great nieces & nephews, and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday May 1, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Moore Funeral Home with ministers Johnny Holman, Mike Keith and Milton Stephens officiating. Burial will be in Lake Hills Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 30 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Saturday 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service.
