Mr. Vernon Varnell Smith

VARNELL SMITH
HIGDON, AL: Vernon Varnell Smith, age 75, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2022. He gave his life to Jesus at Sand Mountain Methodist Church and joined Trenton United Methodist Church in 1972. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War (E5) and was awarded several medals and four bronze service stars.
Vern was a member of VFW, Scottsboro, Al; a volunteer with the Boy Scouts and women’s softball team with the church. He enjoyed shark fishing off Jekyll Island, GA, fishing in bass tournaments, working in his tool shed, farming with his tractor, and being with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harrison and Dovie Smith.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Wanda Smith; son Vernon Varnell Smith, Jr. (Clarissa); granddaughter Adyson Nellie Smith, one of the best things in his life; sister Glenda Grace Starnes; nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held at Trenton United Methodist Church Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at 12:00 PM ET with Pastor Dennis Flaugher officiating.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at the Trenton Chapel of Moore Funeral Home from 4:00 PM ~ 8:00 PM ET; Wednesday from 10:00 AM ~ 12:00 PM at the Church.
