Bernice Scott

Anna Bernice Scott, age 79, of Trenton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 16, 2025.

A funeral service to honor Bernice’s life will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at 1:00 PM ET in the Bryant Chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Brother Brent Smith and Robby Ferguson officiating. Interment will follow at Straightway Cemetery in Bryant, AL.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 4:00 – 8:00 PM ET and on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the service at 1:00 PM ET.

Bernice was a faithful member of Straightway Baptist Church and enjoyed attending gospel singings. She had a love for gardening and canning the vegetables she grew, and her quick wit and playful sense of humor brought laughter to those around her. Christmas was her favorite time of year, and she loved shopping for gifts throughout the year to share with her loved ones.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Sandra (Steve) Goodman, Darren Scott and Tara Scott; sisters, Lucy Hamilton, Stella Mae Ferguson, Delia Ray Bailey; brother, W.J. Smith; grandchildren, Anna Dobbins, Brandon Scott, Dustin Scott, Veronica Sears, Zech Clark; ten great-grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Travis Scott; sons, Samuel Lee Scott, Travis Wayne Scott, and Boyd Erwin Scott; grandson, Nate Johnson; parents, Bogan and Odessa Smith; sisters, Madeline Moore, Barbara Westmoreland, Nancy Sue McKee, Betty Jo Bailey; and brothers, Albert Lester Smith, Jimmy Lee Smith, Joseph Verdel Smith, and Terry Wayne Smith.

Bernice will be remembered for her strong faith, her love for family, and the joy she brought to everyone who knew her.
