Listen to Obituary

Betty Lou Jennings passed away on Monday, July 6, 2026, at the age of 94. Born on June 8, 1932, in Chico, Texas, she was the beloved daughter of the late Thomas Lee and Ima Jewel Lee. She married Wayne Jennings in 1949 and was widowed in 2001.

Betty, affectionately known as "Huny," lived on Sand Mountain in Trenton, Georgia, where she resided with her daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Tom Reed, and was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling to Idaho for extended visits with her daughters and sons-in-law, Renée and Roy McGowan, and Brenda and Bob Bynum and their families.

A lifelong prayer warrior, she was the first person many would turn to in times of need, always ready to lift others up in faith. She possessed a true servant's heart and for 25 years served in pastoral ministry with her husband.

During her 51-year marriage, Betty derived immense pleasure from planning and hosting family gatherings, church events, and special celebrations. Cooking was her passion, and until the day she died, she delighted in preparing everyone's favorite meals.

She lived a life of steadfast love, quiet strength, and joyful celebration. Her indomitable spirit was an inspiration to those around her.

Betty is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Renée and Roy McGowan of Meridian, Idaho; Brenda and Bob Bynum of Kuna, Idaho; and Teresa and Tom Reed of Trenton, Georgia; sister, Mildred Hill, of Cleveland, Tennessee; Sister-in-law, Polly Watkins of Surprise, Arizona; ten granddaughters and three grandsons; thirty-nine great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Ima Jewel Lee; her husband, Wayne Jennings; brothers, James and Bobby; sisters, Ruby, Eva Nell, and Helen; grandchildren, Sam and Jolene; and great-granddaughter, baby Sage.

The funeral service for Betty Jennings will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 12:00 noon EST, at the Larry Moore Memorial Chapel of Moore Funeral Home in Trenton, Georgia.

A Celebration of Life is planned for Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at 10:00 AM CT, at Nampa Calvary Church, Nampa, Idaho. Following the service, "Huny" will be laid to rest at the Kuna Cemetery in Kuna, Idaho. Betty's nephew, Bishop Tim Hill, will be officiating at the services.

"Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.'" –John 11:25-26
