Bill Emmett

William "Bill" Elton Emmett Jr., 71, of Ider, AL, passed away unexpectedly on December 23, 2023 at his home.

A funeral service to honor Bill's life will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 1:00 PM EST in the Trenton Chapel of Moore Funeral Home. Following the service, Bill will be laid to rest at Bethlehem Cemetery in Ider, AL, where he was a member for most of his life.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM EST and on Thursday starting from 11:00 AM EST until the service hour.

Bill was born on June 17, 1952 to Delorice Satterfield Morris and the late Elton Emmett. Throughout his career, he dedicated himself to education and served as a valued teacher within the Dade County School system before retiring. He also spent several years as an adjunct professor at Northeast Alabama Community College. The number of lives he impacted is immeasurable, and his legacy will not be soon forgotten.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of thirty-five years, Donna Beason Emmett; daughter, Glynne Emmett (David) Jones; unofficial daughter, Casey Grider; mother, Delorice Morris; brother, John (Betty) Emmett and their children and grandchildren; mother-in-law Peggy Beason; sister-in-law Darlene Beason; close friend and cousin Gayle Wells; and many other extended family members.

Bill also maintained many life long friendships and treasured them deeply over the years. These include Jimmy Powell; his bridge group members, Scott Black and Brian Adkins; Mac Smotherman; and Kevin Holcomb.

The family wants to say a special thank you to the DeKalb County First Responders for their kindness and assistance during this difficult time.
