Billy was a die-hard Alabama Crimson Tide and the Atlanta Braves fan. His passion for sports extended to coaching middle and high school football in Ider and Valley Head, where he inspired players with his words of encouragement. Music was another love of his, showcasing his talent as a musician through songwriting, guitar playing, and singing a range of genres from gospel hymns to southern rock on his back deck. His infectious sense of humor never failed to bring laughter to those around him. He was a source of encouragement and loved by many.

Left to cherish his memory are his brother Ronnie (Loretta) Black of Trenton; sisters Rita (Jim) Burkett of Trenton, Libby (Robert) O'Neill of Higdon, Marie (Tony) Trotman of Ider, and Trisha Black Wilson of Henagar; as well as his pet companions Sassy and Sadie.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents Olen and Shirley Black, along with his grandparents Albert C. and Vadie Black, and Homer and Bessie Floyd.

Special thanks is extended to friends Mandy Shankles, Keith Watkins, Tiffany Holley, and Hallie Haynie for their unwavering support. Additionally, heartfelt thanks go out to Heather, Deb, and Laynie from Alabama Hospice for their compassionate care.

The honor of pallbearers has been bestowed upon Ronald Williams, Burkett Black Jr., Tommy Hunt, Eric Shankles, Josh Fisher, Shawn Moore, Tim Cagle, Raub Kernea, and Ronnie Goff.

In remembrance of a life well-lived—rest in peace Billy Dewayne Black.
