Charlotte Sue Bethune

Charlotte Sue Bethune, age 87, of Trenton, GA, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of September 16, 2025, at her home with her family by her side.

Sue was born on February 19, 1938, to the late Denvil and Helen Reese Daniel. Known for her independence and determination, Sue built a life defined by hard work, strong will, and deep love for her family. She was a successful businesswoman who owned and operated Ken’s Shoes in Red Bank, TN, for many years.

Family was always at the center of Sue’s life. She cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who will forever remember her devotion to them. Sue also enjoyed traveling and had a love for flower gardening, where she found peace and joy in nurturing beauty around her home. Though strong-minded and sometimes stubborn, Sue’s strength and spirit were gifts to those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughters, Vickie (Ron) McBryar and Donna (Marty) Levitt; sons Kenny and Randy Bethune; sisters Debbie (Leroy) Hartline and Judy (Bobby Wooten) Hicks; grandchildren, Shane (Kari) Wells, Lacee Smith, Chase (Christina) Jolander, Nina (Hudson) Brock, Tristan Jolander, Lindsey Levitt, Hunter (Madison) McBryar, Randy (Cassidy) Bethune, Wesley (Alexx) Bethune, and Nicholas Bethune; 24 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; along with many extended family members and friends.

In addition to her parents, Sue was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth R. Bethune; grandson, Nicholas Criscuoli; and brothers, Dwight and Ronald Daniel.

Funeral services to honor Sue’s life will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, September 19, 2025, in the Larry Moore Memorial Chapel of Moore Funeral Home in Trenton, GA, with Brother Alan Flowers officiating. Interment will follow at Lake Hills Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday from 1:00 PM until the service hour.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Amedisys Hospice for their compassionate care, and to her caregivers—Sarah Flowers, Dana Smith, Natalie Williams, and Jenna Wells—for the love, dedication, and support they provided to Sue in her final days.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Sue’s honor.
