Danny James York, age 59, passed away on Monday, July 10, 2023, at his home in Trenton, GA. He was born in Chattanooga, TN on January 6, 1964 to Carolyn Woolbright York and Kenneth W. York, Sr. Danny was predeceased by his parents, his infant brother Robert Leo York and his grandparents, Robert & Edith McMahan Woolbright of Trenton and Clifford & Agnes Steele York of Ider, AL.
Danny graduated from Northwest Georgia High School in 1982. During his time there, he excelled as the Senior Class President and Band Captain. He showcased his musical talents as a trombonist in the marching and concert bands and also sang in the chorus. Danny was highly regarded by his peers and was voted Most Likely to Succeed and Most Dependable by his Senior classmates.
Continuing his education at Dalton Jr. College and UTC, Danny's passion for knowledge led him to become a member of both schools' College Bowl teams, "The Varsity Sport of the Mind." Ultimately, he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Education from UTC.
Danny dedicated many years of his life to teaching 4th and 5th grades at Trenton Elementary School until his retirement in 2020. He was truly passionate about education and made a lasting impact on the lives of his students. Danny's commitment to nurturing young minds will always be remembered.
In addition to his love for teaching and learning (he had perfect attendance during 12 years of Elementary and High School), Danny was an avid sports enthusiast. He particularly enjoyed football and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, "Go Bucs!!" Furthermore, he had a deep interest in history, specifically the Civil War era. He enjoyed online Trivia games, where he hosted and played with many "Trivia Friends" from around the country.
Danny is survived by his brother, Ken York Jr., of Trenton, as well as first cousins, Angie Williamson Smith & family from Mobile, AL, and Terri Dickerson Clark & family from Trenton.
There will be no visitation or services. The body has been cremated, and the interment of ashes will take place privately at Baptist Cemetery in Trenton. If you wish to honor Danny's memory, donations may be made to the Trenton Elementary School Library or the Dade County Public Library in his name.
