Floyd Dillard Whitley, age 83, of Rossville, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, June 7, 2026.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 11, 2026, in the Larry Moore Memorial Chapel of Moore Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Higdon Cemetery in Higdon, Alabama.
The family will receive friends at Moore Funeral Home in Trenton on Wednesday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again on Thursday from 12:00 PM until the service hour.
Dillard was born on May 14, 1943, in Higdon, Alabama, to the late Lawson and Pauline Cagle Whitley. He spent many years working as a painter and was known for his strong will, determination, and stubborn streak. While he could sometimes be hard-headed and difficult to deal with, those who knew him best never doubted the love he had for his family.
Dillard loved sports and was a die-hard Alabama fan. He enjoyed watching his favorite teams play, along with western movies. Later in life, Dillard accepted Christ as his Savior, and his family finds peace in knowing they will see him again one day.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Whitley; sisters, Dorcas Pritchett and Lona Marie Smith; and his brothers, Barney and Hillard Whitley.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Randy (Angela) Whitley, Carmella (Michael) Steele, and Stacey (Rena) Whitley; sisters, Susie McLain, Joyce Rogers, and Helen (Alton) Willmon; grandchildren, Veronica (Howard) Sears, Mathew Steele, Lauren (Rashard) Harris, Ashli Whitley, Mark (Erin) Whitley, James Whitley, and Brianna Whitley; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Tapestry Hospice for the compassionate care and support shown to Dillard during his final days.
