Charles Dwight Cagle, age 81, of Flat Rock, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.
Born on February 19, 1944, to the late Barney and Sally Smith Cagle, Dwight was a devoted family man whose life was marked by love, hard work, and a generous spirit. His greatest joy was his family, and he poured his heart into teaching life skills and values that will continue to shape generations to come.
A lifelong farmer, Dwight was deeply rooted in the land and the community. He found purpose in tending to his cattle and took pride in helping fellow farmers—whether fixing equipment, sharing tools, or lending a hand when needed. Cattle sales were a favorite pastime, and he was known for his quick wit, easygoing nature, and the ability to make friends with anyone he met.
In addition to his work on the farm, Dwight was an entrepreneur at heart, always pursuing new business opportunities. He had a sharp mind for making a dollar and an even sharper sense of humor. Those who knew him will remember his laughter, his kindness, and his unwavering support.
Dwight was of the Baptist faith and held strong to his values throughout his life.
He is survived by his wife, Leila Cagle; his children: sons Tim (Melissa) Cagle, Eric (Laura) Cagle, and Tim (Deana) Peek; daughters Kim Williams and Tammy (John) Bradley; sisters Doris Slater, Joyce True, and Renee (Kenneth) Hill; step-children, Phil Finch, Mike Finch, and Shannon Maxwell; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Dwight was preceded in death by his wife, Pat Cagle; a set of infant twins; grandson Eric Crowe; brother Bronalee Cagle; and Scott Sullivan, whom he considered a son.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM ET on Saturday, May 10, in the Bryant Chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Brother Luke McKay and Brent Tinker officiating. He will be laid to rest at Oak Lawn Memorial Park following the service.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, May 9, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM ET, and on Saturday from 11:00 AM until the service hour.
Dwight's legacy of love, generosity, and hard work will live on in all who knew him.
