Eddie McBryar

Eddie Dewayne McBryar, age 74, of the New Salem Community of Lookout Mountain, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 3, 2026.

A celebration of Eddie's life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at New Salem Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 11:00 a.m.

Born on August 2, 1951, Eddie was the son of the late Hershel and Gayle McBryar. In 1971, he married the love of his life, Karen Pennington, and together they built a life filled with love, faith, and adventure. For 55 years, they shared countless memories while raising their two sons, Jeff and Jamie, and creating a family that remained the center of Eddie's life.

Family, faith, and adventure were the pillars of Eddie's life. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who treasured every moment spent with those he loved. His grandchildren brought him tremendous joy, and he took great pride in watching them grow.

Eddie was an avid outdoorsman who found peace and happiness in God's creation. Whether he was fishing, hunting, camping, or traveling, he was always ready for the next adventure. Some of his favorite memories were made alongside Karen, spending long days together on the water fishing. He also enjoyed the simple pleasures of being outdoors and sharing those experiences with family and friends.

A skilled builder by trade, Eddie founded McBryar & Son Construction, where he took pride in honest work and building a reputation for quality craftsmanship. His strong work ethic and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Above all, Eddie's faith guided his life. As a faithful member of New Salem Baptist Church, he lived out his beliefs through his love for God, his family, and his community.

Left to cherish his memory are Karen McBryar; Jeff and Shelly McBryar; Jamie and Ann Marie McBryar; Jackson, Grant, Bella, Luke, Ames McBryar, Jacob and Breanna Anderson; Lamar and Deb McBryar; Gina McBryar; Ginger and Larry Scruggs; along with several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends.

In addition to his parents, Eddie was preceded in death by his brother, Tony McBryar.
