Emily Joan Lawson, age 72, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2025 at her home in Rocky Face.
A funeral service to celebrate Emily's life will be held at 4:00 PM on Thursday, May 22, 2025 in the Trenton Chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Pastor Reece Fauscett officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at New Salem Cemetery in Rising Fawn, Georgia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Thursday from 1:00 PM until the service hour at 4:00 PM.
Emily was born on August 26, 1952 to the late Vernon and Lorna King and was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. She retired from the United States Postal Service, where she dedicated many years of service at the Rock Spring Post Office. Emily was a long-time member of New Salem Methodist Church, where she enjoyed the sweet fellowship with her Brothers and Sisters in Christ and made many friendships to last a lifetime. Emily had a deep appreciation and devotion to her family and friends and loved caring for people and showing the love of God to everyone. She enjoyed flower gardening, photography and loved to write poetry. She also enjoyed traveling to the beach on family trips, and especially loved her favorite seafood of crab legs.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husbands, David Lawson & Early White; her brother, Randy King; and a grandson, Chase Porter.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Jennifer (Mike) Jackson, Jill (Todd) Blackmon and Leah (Sean) Martin, Kristie (Greg) Meadows; sons, Mike (Stephanie) Lawson and Randy (Coleen) Lawson; sisters, Wanda Green, Marlene Morgan, Ellen Merritt; grandchildren, Trevor (Brooke) Jackson, Alyssa (Michael) Freeman, Lindsay (Lucas) Bledsoe, Tyler (Kevin Vargas) Blackmon, Lauren (John) Hampton, Clay (Alyssa) Blackmon, Lucy Martin, Forrest Martin, Penelope Martin, Heath Wright, Hunter Meadows, Hannah (Will Scarborough) Meadows, Nic Lawson, Tristan Lawson, Paige Porter and Haven (Gabe Williams) Porter; and great-grandchildren, Oliver Freeman, Emilee & Miller Hampton, Sora Blackmon, Baby Evelyn and Hadley & Bentley Williams.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Hearth Hospice for their exceptional care delivered to Emily during her final days and to the many friends and family for their prayers and unwavering support.
Emily's legacy and memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
