Frank A. Peterson passed away March 14, 2021 in Keene, Texas. He was born September 16, 1925 in Bryant, Alabama to Raynold and Lula Musser Peterson. Frank was the former owner of Sand Mountain Flowers. He married Thelma Jean Nix-Voss on February 14, 1999 in Keene, Texas, was elected mayor of Keene, and lived his retirement years there. Frank was director of National Camps for Blind Children with over 17 years of service.
Frank is survived by his wife of 22 years, Jean Peterson of Keene, Texas; children from a previous marriage, Frank A. Peterson, Jr. of Gallatin, Tennessee, Leila Ford and husband Ed of Empire, Michigan, Ron Peterson and wife Denise of Weatherford; step-children, Liz Gillin, Barbara Renken and husband Virgil, Mary Ortiz and husband Yddo; grandchildren, Paul Peterson, Kari Pace, Josie Peterson, Lesa Wilson, Michael Kowalsky, Laurie Hayes, Fran Pickett, Albert Holewinski, Trevor Holewinski, Corey Egleton, Erik Pace, Matthew Pace, Caitlin Bortz, Emily and Zoe Rye, Joseph and Jeffrey Wilson, Shelby and Julie Hayes, Brianna Hayes, Elizabeth and Jacob Kowalsky, Matt and Stephanie Rosenberg, Allie Parker Presley and Natalie Rosenberg; step great-grandchildren, Michael Sackerson, Kaitlyn Gillin, Jacob & Joshua Renken, Zackery & Levi George, Aiden & Andrew Saraswat, Alyssa & Bryson Renken, Meela & Benji Woods, Emma, Elliot & Eliana Woods; 13 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Lucille Graham of Bryant, Alabama, Elsie Peterson of Panama City, Florida; numerous nieces and nephews and first wife, Helen Belinc of Southgate, Michigan.
Frank is preceded in death by his second wife, Nova Peterson; daughter, Marcia Holewinski; sisters, Virginia Page, Ruth Richards, Evelyn Wilson and granddaughter, Jennifer Raines.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at Floral Crest Cemetery in Bryant, AL on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 2:00 CDT (3:00 EDT), with Brother Wayne Pace officiating. The family will receive friends at the Bryant Chapel of Moore Funeral Home on Saturday from 11:00 – 1:30 CDT (12:00 – 2:30 EDT).
