Born on June 28, 1953, in Bridgeport, Alabama, Gary was the son of the late James "Tab" and Willie Huckabee Blevins. His early years unfolded in Chattanooga before his family relocated to Bryant, Alabama during his teenage years; he later graduated from South Pittsburg High School in 1972.Gary’s professional journey was marked by dedication and diligence. He spent many years contributing to prominent companies such as Combustion Engineering in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Beaulieu of America in Bridgeport, Alabama, and Shaw Industries in Thomson, Georgia. In 2000, Gary and his wife, Pat, moved to Lincolnton, her family’s hometown. He found great joy in hunting, fishing, and crafting in his woodwork workshop. His affection for animals was equally deep, and he was known among loved ones as an avid Alabama football fan with a playful spirit—fond of lighthearted cheating in card games and a master of jokes that brightened gatherings. His faith was an important part of his life; he was a member of the Straightway Baptist Church in Bryant, Alabama, and later attended St. Paul Church in Lincolnton.
Gary’s legacy is lovingly carried forward by his wife of 25 years, Pat Ferguson Blevins; his stepsons, Matt Renfro of Largo, Florida, and Ben Hollis also of Largo, Florida; and his grandchildren, Madelyn Blevins of Bryant, Alabama, as well as Ethan Blevins and his wife Charlsie of South Pittsburg, Tennessee. He is survived by his sister, Shirley Blevins Chambers of Bryant, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his son, Brian Edward Blevins, and his sister, Gayle McGregor. Gary will be remembered for his warm heart, his joyful laughter, and his unwavering devotion to family and friends. His memory endures in the lives he touched and the stories he leaves behind.
