George Anderson

George Franklin Anderson passed away peacefully at his home in Bryant, AL on December 7, 2023, at the age of 86. Surrounded by his loving family during his final moments, George's peaceful departure left a void in the hearts of those who knew him.

A funeral service with military honors will be held on Monday, December 11, 2023 at 2:00 PM ET (1:00 CT) in the Bryant Chapel of Moore Funeral Home. Brother Guindal Knight, Brother Larry Walker, and Brother Wayne Guffey will officiate the service. Following the service, George will be laid to rest at Oak Lawn Memorial Park.

Friends and loved ones are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Sunday, December 10, 2023 from 1:00-8:00 PM ET and on Monday from 12:00 PM until the service hour.

George was born on September 20, 1937 in Sequatchie, TN. He proudly served in the United States Navy and had a successful career as a diesel mechanic throughout his career. George found solace and strength in his faith as a member of Browns Chapel Holiness Church. Among his hobbies were deer hunting, working on cars, and expressing his creativity through painting. However, above all else, George cherished his family.

George is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Mary Frances Anderson; his daughters, Georgia Denise (Michael) Hawkins and Hailey Elizabeth (Corey) Simons; his brother, Chester Anderson; his sister, Martha Ann Long; his grandchildren, Jeremy Hawkins, Erika and Bryan Cooper, Scarlett and Lyla Jane Simons; his great-grandchildren, Robyn and Nick Daniels, Eli and Courtnie Cooper, Levi Hawkins; his great-great-granddaughter, Ryleigh Daniels; along with several extended family members and a host of friends.

George was preceded in death by his parents, William "Bill" and Virginia Jones Anderson, as well as his brother David Anderson and sister Billie Sue Middleton.
