James "Jamey" Ralph McMahan Jr., of Darien, GA, passed away unexpectedly on November 3, 2024, at the age of 49. Affectionately known as "Coach Mac," Jamey dedicated his life to cultivating and supporting the youth of his community.
A funeral service to celebrate Jamey's life will be held at the Trenton Chapel of Moore Funeral Home on Saturday, November 9th, at 12:00 PM, officiated by Brother Eddie Cantrell and Pastor Reece Fauscett. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Hannah Cemetery in Rising Fawn, GA.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Friday, November 8th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and again on Saturday from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
Jamey was a respected high school teacher at McIntosh County Academy, where he not only inspired his students in the classroom but also made a significant impact as an assistant football coach and girls' soccer coach. His prior role at Dade County High School left an indelible mark on the lives of countless young athletes. Known endearingly as "Coach Mac," his dedication to nurturing talent and character earned him the deep respect and admiration of players and colleagues alike.
Beyond teaching, Jamey poured his heart into his family. His children—Madi, Reagan, and Blake—were his pride and joy. He cherished every moment spent coaching his kids and attending their sporting events, celebrating their victories and supporting them through challenges. The love and encouragement he showed them created cherished memories that will always remain in their hearts.
An avid sports fan, Jamey was a loyal supporter of the Georgia Bulldogs and the San Francisco 49ers. He was a man of faith and loved the Lord.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Jessi McMahan; his children, Madi, Reagan, and Blake McMahan; and his father, James Ralph McMahan. He is preceded in death by his mother, Brenda McMahan.
As we celebrate the life of Jamey McMahan, we remember his infectious laughter, unwavering passion, and relentless commitment to uplifting others. His spirit will forever reside in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
