Jane Marie West Wilson died peacefully at her home in Rising Fawn with her family at her side on November 21, 2025. She was 87 years old.

Jane was born on June 19, 1938 in Chickamauga, GA to Roy and Mae Forester West. She lived in Chickamauga before the family moved to Puddin’ Ridge in Rising Fawn. She finished Junior High at Rising Fawn School and then attended high school at the Martha Berry School for Girls. Jane loved Berry and often reminisced about her time there.

Two ladies from Rome who are writing a book about Berry visited Jane several times in the last few years and interviewed her about her work at Berry. Jane worked in Handicrafts there and wove the fabric for a tie that was made and sent to President Eisenhower. She also wove a linen tray set for Mrs. Eisenhower. It had a pink background with a Cherokee Rose inlay. In her thank you letter Mrs. Eisenhower said, “It was her favorite color of pink and it was special because it was the Cherokee Rose, the state flower of Georgia.” Jane was very proud of her work done at Berry and proud of the education she received there.

In 1957 Jane married George Wilson and they took care of each other for 60 years, up until the time of his death. She is survived by her three children: Lane (Linda) Wilson, Mark Wilson, and Kathy (Jerry) Donaldson, all of Rising Fawn; her grandchildren Cody (Ali) Wallin, Sam (McKensie Rogowsk) Wilson, Jorgie Hansard (Jason), Eric (Ashley) Donaldson, and Holly Donaldson; great-grandchildren, Phin, Zion, Isaac, and Elisha Wallin, Isaiah and Bryer Donaldson, and Ruth Pack. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Glenda West and Delilah West, one brother-in-law, Leslie Wilson and many nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Kathryn Wallin, and seven brothers, Jake, Jim, Bill, John, Bob, Eddie, and Frank West.

Jane worked for Headstart as a cafeteria manager for several years before retiring. After retiring, she served on the Dade County Board of Elections for some time. She attended Rising Fawn Methodist Church.

Her family and the folks at her church and many others knew that she was a wonderful cook. In the years when she didn’t work outside the home, she babysat several nephews and nieces and neighbors who remember her fondly.

The family would like to thank Megan Bradford, her hospice nurse and the staff of Tapestry Hospice for their care.

A funeral service to honor Jane’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 23 in the Larry Moore Memorial Chapel of Moore Funeral Home in Trenton. She will be laid to rest at Hanna Cemetery in Rising Fawn, GA.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 3:00–7:00 PM and on Sunday from 12:00 PM until the service hour.
