Faith and family were the cornerstones of Jean’s life. She was a faithful member of Edgewood Baptist Church for more than 50 years, where she served by teaching Sunday School and working in the children’s ministry for many years. Jean had a gentle spirit, a caring heart, and a way of making everyone around her feel loved and welcome.
More than anything, Jean loved her family. They were her life, her joy, and her greatest blessing. Whether gathered around the dinner table, celebrating milestones, or simply spending time together, those moments filled her heart the most. Her love for her family was steady and deep, woven into every part of her life like threads in a treasured quilt stitched over generations.
Jean shared 63 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Garry. Together they built a life centered on faith, love, and family while raising their two children, Stephen (Nikki) Tipton and Regina (Todd) Shepard.
She was a proud grandmother to Brennen (Michaela Wells) Shepard, Aaron (Brooke) Shepard, LaChae (Matt) Luck, Levi (Nikki) Blake, Deven Tipton, and Kyle Tipton. Jean also adored her seven great-grandchildren, each one bringing special joy and sunshine into her life.
Jean worked for 28 years at the Bank of Dade before retiring after a successful career. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose kindness and warmth touched many lives.
She is also survived by her sisters, Faye Johnson and Brenda Bell; and her brothers, Wayne (Ida Faye) Pennington and Randy (Sheila) Pennington.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Millard and Iona Christopher Pennington; and her great-granddaughter, Indie Jean Blake.
The family would like to thank Tapestry Hospice for the compassionate care and support shown to Jean and her family during this time.
