Melanie Beth Parrish, age 79, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 5, 2024, at her home in Trenton, GA.
A Mass honoring Melanie’s life will be held on Friday, July 12, 2024 at 12:00 PM at the Saint Katharine Drexel Catholic Church with Father Mark Thomas officiating. She will be laid to rest at Lake Hills Memorial Gardens following the service.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the church on Friday from 10:00 AM until the commencement of the service.
Born on March 27, 1945, Melanie was the daughter of the late Harry W. and LeAnna Allison Daughtery. Known for her compassionate nature and dedication to serving others, she was actively involved in various capacities at Saint Katharine Drexel Catholic Church. She helped publish the church bulletin and held positions such as Secretary of the Parish Council and Eucharistic Minister. Professionally, Melanie devoted her career to nursing at Erlanger Medical Center and University Orthopedics. Over the years, she made significant contributions to civic organizations and clubs serving as a past director of the Dade County EMS, an EMT instructor at Walker Technical Institute, past President of the Pilot Club of Chattanooga, former Chairperson of the Dade County Library Board, former Chairperson of the Cherokee Regional Library Board, and a former member of the Dade County Chamber of Commerce.
Melanie is survived by her sister, Glenda Beach, several nieces, nephews, and friends who cherished her deeply. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harold Vinton Parrish along with siblings Joyce Lively, Betty Childs, Juanita Blevins, and Harry Lee Daughtery.
Instead of flowers, donations in Melanie's honor may be directed to Saint Katharine Drexel Church or the Dade County Public Library.
May she rest in peace knowing that her legacy lives on through those she inspired and served faithfully throughout her lifetime.
