Melvin Levon Abbott, age 61, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, with his children by his side.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Hawkins Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Moore Funeral Home in Trenton, GA, on Thursday from 12:00 PM until 1:30 PM.
Melvin was a true jack of all trades who could fix just about anything he set his hands to. Whether it was a small repair or a big project, he took pride in figuring things out and helping others along the way. He had a big heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and metal detecting, where he found both peace and a sense of adventure. He also loved his cats and could often be found relaxing with them nearby while watching his favorite western movies. Above all, Melvin cherished his family. His greatest joy came from spending time with his children and grandchildren, who meant the world to him.
He is survived by his children, Timothy Dylan Abbott, Evelyn Autumn Abbott, Kayla Amber Tinker, Candy Marie Abbott, and Adam Lee Abbott; his mother, Betty Lou Gray Abbott; his siblings, Cynthia Gravitt, Randall Abbott, and Lester Abbott; and his grandchildren, Ophelia Rosalie Esme Abbott, Ilias Cane Painter, Lucas Chase Quarles, Jaxson Cooper Behl, Jaylyn Victoria Beach, and Kylie Genevieve Beach; along with several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lester Waymon Abbott; and his sisters, Sheila Wood and Karen Abbott.
