Michael Eugene "Mike" Gilbert, of Bryant, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, July 5, 2026.

A funeral service to celebrate Mike's life will be held on Thursday, July 9, at 1:00 PM ET (12:00 PM CT) in the Bryant Chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Brother Darren Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Baptist Cemetery in Pisgah, Alabama.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM ET and on Thursday from 11:00 AM ET until the hour of service.

Mike was the kind of person who could brighten a room with his personality. Fun-loving, friendly, and full of life, he never met a stranger. He loved talking with people, telling stories, sharing jokes, and making those around him laugh. Whether you knew him for years or had just met him, Mike had a way of making you feel like a friend.

Mike enjoyed playing the guitar and had a special love for country music. He was also gifted at woodworking and took pride in creating things with his hands. When football season rolled around, there was no doubt where his loyalty stood, he was a die-hard Alabama Crimson Tide fan. Above all else, Mike treasured his family. Spending time with those he loved brought him his greatest joy. He was of the Christian faith.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Nancy Kay Gilbert; his children, Kindra Gilbert, Michael Gilbert, and Chris (Lindsay) Hageman; his grandchildren, Zoey (Peyton) Tinker, Zayda Gilbert, Zach Hageman, Aiden Hageman, Ian Hageman; his siblings, Donald (Sherryalynn) Gilbert, Eddie (Delores) Gilbert, and Lisa (Reggie Higdon) Gilbert Shrader; along with several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many friends who will miss him dearly.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Albert "Achee" Gilbert and Maggie Shavers Gilbert, and his niece, Carla Carter.

Though his family grieves his passing, they find comfort in the many happy memories they shared with him. Mike's laughter, kind heart, and love for his family will continue to live on in the lives of all who knew and loved him.
