Troyce Haywood Burrell, age 92, of Trenton, Georgia, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 27, 2025. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side.
Troyce was born on May 18, 1933, in Dade County, Georgia, to the late Murphy and Cora West Burrell. Born during the Great Depression, Troyce learned early the value of hard work, frugality, and preparation. These lessons shaped the man he became, a devoted provider who believed in not wasting, planning for rainy days, and always taking care of his family.
A man of deep and enduring faith, Troyce was a longtime member of Woodlawn Baptist Church and had been saved for 56 years. His faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of his life and guided every season he walked through. Family and faith were always at the center of who he was.
Troyce proudly served his country in the United States Army, including 16 months stationed in Germany. Following his military service, he worked for more than 30 years at Combustion Engineering before retiring. Even in retirement, Troyce continued to work, later serving as a car salesman at Benny Jackson Ford, where his integrity and work ethic were well known.
In addition to his parents, Troyce was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Betty Jewell Hartline Burrell; his grandson, Josh Burrell; and his brothers, Vaughn Nelson Burrell and Dallas Burrell.
He is survived by his sons, Roger (Debbie) Burrell and Jerome (Sandy) Burrell; his grandchildren, Shannon (Chasity) Burrell, Lamar (Christy) Burrell, and Adam (Jessica) Burrell; thirteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Troyce’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, December 31st, in the Larry Moore Memorial Chapel of Moore Funeral Home, with Brother Adam Burrell, Brother Jonathan Witt, and Brother Ed Rosser officiating. Military honors will be performed at the funeral home.
The family will receive friends at Moore Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and again on Wednesday from 12:00 PM until the service hour.
He will be laid to rest alongside his wife at Chattanooga National Cemetery on Friday, January 2, 2026.
Troyce Haywood Burrell will be remembered as a faithful servant of the Lord, a hardworking provider, a devoted husband and father, and a man whose life reflected integrity, humility, and steadfast love. His legacy lives on through the family he loved so dearly.
