Virgie Mae Jane Castleberry, age 95, of Wildwood, GA, passed away peacefully at her home early Sunday morning, August 17, 2025.
A funeral service to honor Virgie’s life will be held Thursday, August 21, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Larry Moore Memorial Chapel of Moore Funeral Home, Trenton, GA, with Brother Alan Flowers officiating. She will be laid to rest at Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, from 4:00–8:00 PM, and on Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the service hour at 11:00 AM.
Virgie lived a remarkable 95 years and was truly the glue that held her family together. She had a heart for others and never closed her door to anyone in need. A faithful member of New England Missionary Baptist Church, she loved singing in the choir and sharing her gift of music as a talented pianist. Virgie also enjoyed tending to her flower garden and found joy in the simple pleasures of everyday life.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Mike (Inez) Castleberry; niece and caregiver, Cindy Lovelady Templeton; along with several other nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Leonard Castleberry; parents, George Walter “Walt” and Allie Frizzell Lovelady; brother, George W. “Buddy” Lovelady; and nephews, Daniel Wayne and George David Lovelady.
The family extends special thanks to Hearth Hospice and Trenton Pharmacy, especially Kristen, for their compassionate care. Virgie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
