Wendell Carthell Thomas

Wendell Carthell Thomas, 90, of Trenton GA passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2023.

Wendell was born in DeKalb County, Alabama on September 23, 1932 to Albert and Lillie Thomas. He grew up in Fyffe, Alabama and married the love of his life, Maxine Thomas on July 16, 1955. Wendell served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany for 2 years.  He worked at Combustion Engineering for 34 years until his retirement. After retiring, he worked for several years at Red Food Store and Food Lion. He was also an avid gardener. He attended Ider Holiness church and loved his church family very much.

In addition to his parents, Wendell was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine, his brothers Lloyd, Troy, Olen, Granville, and L.M. Thomas and his sisters Earline Womack, Idell Brown, Thelma Cook and Shelby Hicks.

Wendell is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Karen Jeanine and Dennis Thomas; his beloved Grand-Dog Cooper, loving niece and caregiver, Kay Blevins and her husband Rodney, special friends Hershel and Sybil Chapman and a large extended family of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will begin at 3:00 PM on Monday, June 19, 2023 in the Trenton Chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Reverend Brent Michaels and Reverend Wayne Guffey presiding over the service. Burial will follow in the Bryant Holiness Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-6PM and Monday from 1PM until the funeral hour at Moore Funeral Home in Trenton, GA. 

The family would like to extend special thanks to caregivers Tonya Pearson and Dorothy Hartline as well as the caring staff of Amedisys Hospice for their service during his brief illness.
