William Henry “Bill” Claffey, age 81, of Valley Head, AL, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, August 24, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Bill was born on October 27, 1943, in Pleasantville, OH, to the late James and Edna McNulty Claffey. He proudly served in the Army National Guard and later enjoyed a long career with the Baltimore Paper Mill. Bill had many interests throughout his life, including antique cars, western movies, and reading, but above all, he cherished time spent with his family. He was a man of the Catholic faith.
He was a member of the Baltimore Lodge #475 F&AM of Ohio, and the Supreme Council of the Scottish Rite, 32nd Degree.
Left to treasure his memory are his loving wife of 42 years, Carolyn Claffey; children, Mike and Brenda Snider, Julie and Mike Anthony, Nora and Tom Frye, Nickie and Check Wemer, Edward Claffey, Trina and Gene Massengale, Melissa and Jeff Sipos, and Christena and James Moore; three sisters; many grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, William Claffey Jr.; grandsons, James Claffey and Anthony Stevens; and great-grandson, Jase Sipos.
Funeral services to honor Bill’s life will be held at 1:00 PM ET on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, in the Larry Moore Memorial Chapel of Moore Funeral Home, Trenton, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 11:00 AM until the service hour.
